HELPFUL HOUSEHOLD HINT - HOW TO CLEAN BAKED ON FOOD FROM POTS AND PANS

Dear Readers:

I think we have all been there with baked on foods and the dilemma on how to remove it without damaging our cookware.   Below is a couple of solutions to the this problem, and I would like to add one more that I have found useful.

If I am dealing with metal cookware, I first remove as much of the food as I can.  Using one of the solutions below may help with this.  Then I sprinkle a good amount of baking soda in the bottom of the pan (NO water at this point).  Next, I use a stainless steel scrubbie and with a little water I scrub the bottom of the pan, creating a paste with the baking soda.  Not only does this in most cases get rid of the rest of the food, but it also helps to remove any stains.  All of this without any scrubbing product chemicals like soft soap or a scouring powder.  Further, the nice thing about baking soda is that it is easy on your hands, and rinses completely away.

If I am cleaning glass or something like corning ware, I following the same procedure, but instead of using a stainless steel scrubbie I use something like a scotchbrite scrubbie.
