SOMETIMES I THINK ANIMALS ARE MORE HUMAN THAN HUMANS.
Giraffe 'kisses' goodbye dying zoo worker in touching photograph
FoxNews.com
A touching moment between a zoo worker and one of his favorite animals has gone viral.
According to a report by Dutch News, 54-year-old Mario, who worked for the Rotterdam Zoo in the Netherlands for many years, was recently diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor. But before he died, he had one wish: to say goodbye to the animals he cared for.
Thanks to a Dutch organization called the Ambulance Wish Foundation, Mario was transported from his hospital to the zoo and wheeled around the giraffe enclosure. That’s when one of the giraffes came up to Mario to give him a kiss goodbye.
“It was a very special moment. You saw him smile," said Kees Veldboer, director of Ambulance Wish. ‘It was special that the animals knew him and could sense all was not well with him.”
According to Dutch News, Mario has spent most of his adult life cleaning the animal enclosures at the zoo.

YOU COULD HAVE HEARD A PIN DROP!
Dear Readers:
Every now and then I get tired of hearing of how terrible Americans are. That's when I go back and read this article. I suggest it is something we should all keep in mind. I don't know who originally wrote it, but I am thankful they did.
YOU COULD
HAVE HEARD A PIN DROP
When
in England, at a fairly large conference, Colin Powell was asked by the
Archbishop of Canterbury if our plans for Iraq were just an example of empire
building by George Bush.
He
answered by saying, 'Over the years, the United States has sent many of its
fine young men and women into great peril to fight for freedom beyond our
borders. The only amount of land we have
ever asked for in return is enough to bury those that did not
return.'
You
could have heard a pin drop.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There
was a conference in France where a number of international engineers were
taking part, including French and American. During a
break, one of the French engineers came back into the room saying
'Have you heard the latest dumb stunt Bush has done? He has sent an aircraft
carrier to Indonesia to help the tsunami victims. What does he intended to do, bomb them?'
A
Boeing engineer stood up and replied quietly: 'Our carriers have three
hospitals on board that can treat several hundred people; they are nuclear
powered and can supply emergency electrical power to shore facilities; they have
three cafeterias with the capacity to feed 3,000 people three meals a day, they
can produce several thousand gallons of fresh water from sea water each day,
and they carry half a dozen helicopters for use
in transporting victims and injured to and from their flight
deck. We have eleven such ships; how
many does France have?'
You
could have heard a pin drop.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A
U.S. Navy Admiral was attending a naval conference that included Admirals from
the U.S. English, Canadian, Australian
and French Navies. At a cocktail reception, he found himself standing with a
large group of Officers that
included personnel from most of those countries.
Everyone
was chatting away in English as they sipped their drinks but a French admiral
suddenly complained that, whereas Europeans learn many languages, Americans
learn only English. He then asked, 'Why
is it that we always have to speak English in these conferences rather than
speaking French?'
Without
hesitating, the American Admiral replied 'Maybe it' s because the Brits,
Canadians, Aussies and Americans arranged it so you wouldn' t have to speak
German.'
You
could have heard a pin drop.

AND
THIS STORY FITS RIGHT IN WITH THE ABOVE...
Robert
Whiting, an elderly gentleman of 83, arrived in Paris by plane. At French Customs, he took a few minutes to
locate his passport in his carry- on.
'You
have been to France before, monsieur?' the customs officer asked sarcastically.
Mr.
Whiting admitted that he had been to France previously.
'Then
you should know enough to have your passport ready.'
The
American said, 'The last time I was here, I didn't have to show it.
‘Impossible.
Americans always have to show your
passports on arrival in France!'
The
American senior gave the Frenchman a long hard look. Then he quietly explained,
'Well, when I came ashore at Omaha Beach on D-Day in 1944 to help liberate this
country, I couldn't find a single Frenchmen to show a passport to.'
You could
have heard a pin drop.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY - AND POSSIBLE DISCUSSION
I don't totally agree with this, but it is an interesting thought. I think when it was written (seems
like the 30's by the looks of the man's clothing) it was probably more true than it would be today, since there are those who use swear words for the shock value.

RECIPE FOR THE MONTH – QUICK & SIMPLE BREAKFAST FOR THOSE BUSY WEEKENDS
Dear Readers:
It has been awhile since I posted my last recipe (January), but, I've decided not to post every week, and will, most likely, post once a month. The recipe that I am going to publish this month is what I simply call – Quick and Simple Breakfast for those Busy Weekends. I like to use recipes that incorporate using leftovers, and that is exactly what this recipe does. Also, it helps to stretch the food dollar. It doesn't take a lot of time and effort and I find that it's a pretty tasty breakfast to have on that lazy Saturday or Sunday morning.
Don't forget to check out the coupon web pages posted this week on my web page to see if there is any that can be used for the ingredients.

HAVE A LAUGH OVER DAUGHTER AND GRANDDAUGHTER HUMOR
Dear Readers:
My daughter sent me this discussion she had with her two daughters:
After much discussion Haley and Sofie are giving up ice cream for Lent.
Haley wanted to give up bathing and Sofie wanted to give up sleep -
while I admire their willingness to sacrifice, I feel like ice cream was
the best choice for all parties involved.

THE INCREDIBLE THING AND EIGHT-YEAR-OLD BOY DID FOR SOLDIER WILL BE REMEMBERED FOR A LIFETIME
Dear Reader:
This is a beautiful story about what an eight-year-old did for soldier, it begins...
"Like most 8-year-olds, Myles Eckert was already dreaming up ways he could spend a $20 bill he had just discovered laying in a Cracker Barrel parking lot earlier this month."
“I kind of wanted to get a video game, but then I decided not to,” the child recounted to CBS News. That’s because Eckert saw Lt. Col. Frank Dailey enter the restaurant. The man in uniform changed his mind...To read the whole story, and to see the video, click HERE.

POLITICAL HUMOR THOUGHT FOR THE DAY!
"The reason Politicians try so hard to get re-elected is that they would
"hate" to have to make a living under the laws they've passed."
