THIS EVENING'S MUSIC - VERA LYNN - "IF YOU LOVE ME" [1953]

"Dame Vera Lynn, also known as Vera Margaret Welch, was an English singer and entertainer born on March 20, 1917, in East Ham, Essex, England. She passed away on June 18, 2020, in Ditchling, East Sussex, at the age of 103.
1. During World War II, she became a symbol of the British wartime spirit and gave outdoor concerts for troops in Egypt, India, and Burma as part of the Entertainments National Service Association (ENSA). Her sentimental material and wholesome stage persona endeared her to the public.
2. Her World War II-era songs like "We'll Meet Again" and "(There'll Be Bluebirds Over) The White Cliffs of Dover" made her a cultural icon by providing strength and comfort to soldiers during the conflict."
