We All Have Salt in Our Home, But How Many of You Think to Use It For This?
Article from Tip Hero web site
Table salt: it’s a culinary staple–and, unless you are watching your blood pressure, chances are you have a big jar of it sitting in your cupboard at this very moment. But, did you know that salt isn’t just good for cooking? It’s also an important ingredient that can be used in some of the best life hacks around.

Our buddies over at Household Hacker created a video to show us all about the wonders of table salt. In it, we are graced with a whopping 7 different ways salt can be used to make our lives easier. Here are our favorites from the clip:

Clean up messy, broken eggs

Do you routinely suffer from messes after your little ones help you cook breakfast in the morning? If so, you’re likely very well-acquainted with the fact that eggs are much, MUCH stickier than you could ever imagine! The next time you are dealing with an eggy mess, just grab your salt shaker and sprinkle a generous amount of the crystals all over the cracked egg. The salt contains properties that help the egg coagulate, making it very simple to wipe away.

Extinguish grease fires

Grease fires are one of the leading causes of catastrophic home fires. To nip one in the bud, simply grab a large jar of salt and pour it directly onto the flames until it is no longer burning. This hack works so well, that you might want to consider keeping a large jar right next to the stove!

Dissolve dreaded sink hairballs

Is there anything grosser than a bathtub drain that’s stopped up due to a humungous hairball? (We hope you’re not eating your lunch while you’re reading this!) To get rid of the nasty hair clumps, you can mix together roughly 1/4 cup of baking soda and 1/4 cup of salt. After everything is mixed, shake it up and run it down the drain. Next, pour a cup of white vinegar down the drain, too. The reaction will look similar to a Mentos-Diet Coke science project and is surprisingly effective at breaking up hair.

Keep ants at bay and far away

Fun fact: Did you know that ants absolutely HATE salt? It’s true–the little buggers won’t go anywhere near the stuff, which is why sprinkling the tiny crystals all over the ants and/or their hangouts works very well. We love the trick because it’s effective and is also all-natural–no more smelly, chemical-filled ant sprays!
