A KID'S LETTER TO HER MOMMY.
Dear Readers:
You may have read my post of November 26th, "Let us be thankful as we celebrate Thanksgiving",where I reposted my then 5-year old granddaughter's concern about those in need. Now she is 7, and she decided on her own to write a letter to her mommy.

RECIPE FOR THE WEEK - CREAM WAFER
Dear Readers:
Here's a 'neat' little wafer to serve anytime - with ice cream, a fruit compote, or with a cup of tea or coffee. A nice little something to keep on hand during the Holidays. It is called a Cream Wafer and it too uses pastry flour. Once again I have included the link about different flours so you can read all about the difference between flours.
The difference between cake flour, all purpose flour and bread flour. Which do you need, and why?

HESITATE TO BUY FOODS THAT ARE MARKED "SELL BY" OR "USE BY"? YOU SHOULDN'T.
Dear Readers:
How often have you avoided that particular can or boxed food product because it was close to the 'use by' or 'sell by' date? I know that I have. I don't know about you, but my nickles have to stretch as far as they can. In the last two years, both my husband and I have laid off of our jobs, and when the new jobs became available, they were at half the salary we earned in our former positions. So keeping to a tight budget has been a necessity.
Today, during my web surfing, I came across two web pages that offer information about all those 'mysterious' dates you find on food products. They are the Sharp Shopper Grocery Outlet and Grocery Clearance Center. Not only do they offer this information, but they offer these goods to customers in their area. Wish I had one in my area.
Here are the web links to these pages, a link to a pdf article about product dating, and an article about expired foods.

EXCERPTS FROM A CAT'S DIARY
DAY 752 - My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while I am forced to eat dry cereal. The only thing that keeps me going is the hope of escape, and the mild satisfaction I get from ruining the occasional piece of furniture...Tomorrow I may eat another house plant.
DAY 761 - Today my attempt to kill my captors by weaving around their feet while they were walking almost succeeded, must try this at the top of the stairs. In an attempt to disgust and repulse these vile oppressors, I once again induced myself to vomit on their favorite chair...must try this on their bed.
DAY 765 - Decapitated a mouse and brought them the headless body in attempt to make them aware of what I am capable of, and to try to strike fear into their hearts. They only cooed and condescended about what a good little cat I was... Not working according to plan.
DAY 768 - I am finally aware of how sadistic they are. For no good reason I was chosen for the water torture. This time however it included a burning foamy chemical called "shampoo." What sick minds could invent such a liquid? My only consolation is the piece of thumb still LODGED between my teeth.
DAY 771 - There was some sort of gathering of their accomplices. I was placed in solitary throughout the event, however, I could hear the noise and smell the foul odor of the glass tubes they call "beer." More importantly I overheard that my confinement was due to MY power of "allergies." Must learn what this is and how to use it to my advantage.
DAY 774 - I am convinced the other captives are flunkies and maybe snitches. The dog is routinely released and seems more than happy to return. He is obviously a half-wit. The bird on the other hand has got to be an informant, and he speaks with them regularly. I am certain he reports my activities. Due to his current placement in the metal room his safety is assured. But I can wait; it is only a matter of time...
