Recipe for the Week - French Toast

Breakfast is my absolutely my favorite meal, but after awhile I get tired of just plain old bacon and eggs.  This week my recipe is for French Toast.  Love to serve it with fresh fruit.

Homemade Mayonnaise- the quest for preservative free foods

This past Thursday, March 15th, I posted on my Current Recipe Page a recipe for Egg Yolk Mayonnaise.  Now, the last time I made mayonnaise was when I took home economics in high school, and I won't say how long ago that was!  However, today I made the mayonnaise. WOW, it tastes great!  What is really wonderful is that it doesn't have all the other junk that is in today's store bought mayonnaise.  

My next search is a recipe for ketchup (catsup).  Since I have an allergy to garlic, and the fact that I consider ketchup a basic food group, I have to find one without the garlic.  Once again I will go back to the old cookbooks and should be able to modify accordingly.  I'll keep you posted.  

If you have any allergy issues, I am recommending that you get back to the basics of cooking.  You eliminate all the preservatives, the soy bean products, wheat, etc.  I have long said, the food processing industries and the people who bury us are in cahoots to have us 'pickled' before we die.

The recipe this week is for all of those people with food allergies.  Recently diagnosed with several, one being garlic, I've been looking for a mayonnaise recipe.  I finally found one in an old cookbook.  You know the kind I mean, the ones that use real ingredients...not soybeans or 'natural flavorings'.

Recipe for the Week - Pecan Coffee Cake

We are having crazy weather here in Tennessee.  Last week when I posted my recipe, the high for the day was in the 30's.  This week it is in the 60's.  I think Mother Nature is having issues!

Recipe for the Week - Upside-Down Ham Casserole

Recipe for the Week - Molasses Cake

Hope you all had a great Labor Day weekend.  This week's recipe, Molasses Cake is a very simple cake, easily prepared, and great to eat!  As I say in my recipe, I like to use either powdered sugar or my French Coffee Icing as a topping.
