DID YOU KNOW THIS...ABOUT THE CHICHEN ITZA KUKULCAN TEMPLE IN MEXICO?
Spring Equinox at the Chichen Itza Kukulcan Temple in Mexico. The sun's rays falling on the Mayan pyramid create a shadow in the shape of a serpent to eventually join a stone serpent head at the base of the great staircase up the pyramid's side.
The ancient Mayan people were master astronomers and had complex methods
for calculating astronomical events. They were also accomplished
builders and constructed some of the tallest structures in the Western
Hemisphere. They combined their love of astronomy and architecture
often, as seen in the Chichen Itza Kukulcan Temple. When the sun’s rays
hit the pyramid during the Spring Equinox, the resulting shadow shows a
giant serpent slithering down the great staircase.
